Composer, songwriter, all instruments, vocals, and MIDI.
Timothy Moberly’s musical style is fueled by a lifetime of performance with ensembles and as a solo artist, in genres as diverse as jazz, classical, rock, early music, Celtic, Britfolk, pop, prog, and improv. At the University of Tulsa, he studied composition with William C. Heinrichs and theory with Joseph Rivers. After earning his B. M. magna cum laude and M. M. in composition, he received a Graduate School Fellowship from the University of Miami, where he studied composition with Dennis Kam and Don Wilson, and theory with John Van der Slice. Along with large multimovement works composed in Miami, he extensively researched and authored “A Survey of English Folk Song Related to Calendar Custom and Seasonal Celebration”, which was selected to be archived at the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition at the University of Sheffield, UK. After receiving the doctorate in composition and later conducting further research in Europe, he returned to the United States. His first CD, "Faux Normal", was released on Vertebrate Records in 2005.
In addition to being a twenty-first-century composer, Dr. Moberly also applies his creative efforts to songwriting. He exclusively performs his long list of songs and instrumental works in this genre as vocalist and guitarist. He is currently recording his second CD, which focusses on a selection of these titles.
